If you have been collecting tabs in OneTab and want them in a tool that also offers spaces, auto-save and a restorable Trash, you do not have to start over. KeepIt can turn an exported OneTab list into a saved session.
What you need
- KeepIt installed in Chrome.
- Your OneTab list, exported as text. In OneTab, open its import and export page and copy the exported list. Each line is a web address, optionally followed by a title.
Import it
- Open the KeepIt popup and choose Tools & Settings (the gear icon).
- Open Organize & Import and choose the OneTab import.
- Type a name for the imported session.
- Paste the exported text, using the format
URL | Titleor just the URL on each line. - Press Import Session.
The list appears in your sessions like any other. You can restore it, add a note, move it into a folder, or share it.
Tips for a clean move
- Import one group at a time. If your OneTab has many groups, paste one group per import so each becomes its own named session.
- Check the count. Compare the number of tabs in the new session with your OneTab group before you rely on it.
- Keep OneTab until you are sure. Leave it installed until you have restored a few imported sessions and everything you need is there.
What you get after the move
- Auto-save snapshots in the background, every 3 minutes on Free.
- Deleted sessions kept in Trash for 30 days, with earlier versions kept for 30 days on Free and 90 on Pro.
- Folders, notes and search across tab titles, addresses and notes.
- Spaces, so you can switch between projects in one click.
